Félicitations to all those schools who successfully completed their short films “en français” on the theme “Quand le chat n’est pas là, les souris dansent”. The external judges were very impressed with the great work and fun which was evident in each of the finished productions. Students and teachers alike should be proud of what they have achieved.
Difficult decisions had to be made and, in the end, the following 4 schools were chosen as the overall winners.

The public talk given by our special guest Ms Marie Anne Isler Béguin yesterday at Trinity College Dublin was the occasion for us to launch our 2018 secondary-school competition inspired by President Emmanuel Macron's slogan "Make our planet great again". Full details of the competition have now been posted on our website AMOPA Irlande under "Concours".

Le congrès national 2017 de la FTA, l’Association nationale des professeurs de français en Irlande, a eu lieu le 6-7 octobre 2017 à l’Université de Cork. Le thème de cette année était “En ligne…les médias dans le classe de français”.
Le vendredi soir les participants ont éte invites à un pot d’accueil suivi du visionnement d’un des films choisis par l’Institut du cinéma en Irlande (IFI), un film qui, avec son guide pédagogique peut ȇtre, par la suite, exploité dans la salle de classe.
L’ouverture officielle du congrès s’est fait samedi matin par son excellence Mme. Meylan, l’Ambassadrice de Suisse en Irlande. Dans son discours elle a parlé de la situation linguistique en Suisse et a cité certains rapports sur l’importance du plurilinguisme dans le monde du travail. Mme. Fanny Kablan, Chargée des projets pédaogogiques et multimédias de la FIPF a présenté franc-parler.org, sa richesse et toutes les possibilités qu’il met à la disposition des professeurs. Elle a également invité les professeurs à participer au site et a expliqué le processus à suivre. Mme. Catherine Jeanneau de l’Université de Limerick (Irlande) a ensuite présenté un de ses projets sur la technologie dans la salle de classe.

Pour faire connaȋtre un maximum d’agences et d’organisations il y a eu au fils de la journée 6 “rencontres express” avec Mme. Valérie David McGonnell de la FTA sur l’exploitation d’un site internet, M. Noel Canty, représentant en Irlande de TV5Monde, Mme. Nathalie-Zoé Fabert du Service Culturel de l’Ambassade en France en Irlande sur l’iniative “Speakshake”, Mme. Bérangère Langlois de l’Alliance Française de Dublin, Mme Liliana O’Reilly de Leargas (l’Agence des programmes européens) sur l’e-twinning, et M. Pat Crowley de UCC sur les programmes offerts aux étudiants de français à Cork.
Mme. Ann Brudell, Présidente de la FTA, a parlé de l’association aux participants et a facilité une discussion entre les différents comités régionaux de la FTA. Ceci va mener à un planning plus précis des évenements régionaux à prévoir dans les mois à venir. M.Desmond Keane, examinateur en chef au Leaving Certificate (l’équivalent du baccalauréat) a parlé des épreuves écrites et aurales de l’examen de 2017.
Le congrès a aussi été animé par les stands des maisons d’édition, des agences de voyages scolaires et des organisations promouvant le français en Irlande. Caroline Moreau de “French singing in schools” a ajouté une ambiance musicale à la pause-déjeuner.
Le congrès national a offert un programme varié et ciblé aux 180 professeurs des quatre coins du pays qui y ont assisté. Le bureau national de la FTA est reconnaissant du soutien financier et moral de L’Ambassade de France en Irlande, de la Fédération Internationale des Professeurs de Français, de l’Ambassade de Suisse en Irlande, de Living Languages et toutes les autres companies dont les logos figurent en haut.

For the first time in 14 years the French Teachers’ Association of Ireland (FTA) is returning to Cork for its National Conference which this year will be on the theme of using media in the classroom.
The 2 day conference in UCC on October 6th/7th will be opened by the Swiss Ambassador to Ireland, Mme. Marie-Claude Meylan, and will include speakers from national and international agencies promoting the use of media in the French classroom. Supported by the French Embassy in Ireland, the International Federation of French Teachers, the Alliance Française and many other bodies this Conference promises to be a very enjoyable and profitable experience for French teachers in Ireland.
