Le concours est ouvert aux professeurs de français membres de la FTA et aux élèves dont le professeur est membre de la FTA.
Participez au concours haïku de la CEO-FIPF en envoyant 3 haïkus (écrits par un professeur) par professeur et / ou 5 haïkus (écrits par des élèves) maximum par école à l’avant le 14 janvier 2015.
La FTA sélectionnera alors un premier, deuxième et troisième prix qui seront ensuite envoyés pour une sélection européenne.
Il y aura un prix spécial « L’esprit Champagne » pour le haïku qui représente le mieux le thème « Champagne » (soit un prix pour le haïku qui représente le mieux le respect pour la nature (« l’esprit vigne » soit l’environnement durable) ou l’effervescence typique du Champagne (« l’esprit lucide et subtil; propre aux haïkus).
In response to teachers’ requests we are happy to announce that we are extending the deadline for our FILM COMPETITION « Le Coup de Foudre » to January 30th 2015. This will allow teachers who did not have time to launch the project before Christmas to spend a few days on same on returning to school in January. If you have already started you will have more time to finish your film.
Those of you who attended the FTA Conference saw the winning entry and how much fun these students (all in 1st Year) had while making their 5 minute film. All students will receive a certificate of participation for their folders. Follow the link on fta.ie to see how easily a film can be made using Windows Movie Maker (although most classes will have at least one computer buff who will be delighted to show off his/her skills!).
There are very few competitions for French students in ireland. Show your students how much fun they can have in French by working with them on a simple project that will only take a few days!!

This is a combination of a workshop and a competition for Leaving Cert Higher Level students and their teachers. The focus is on l’expression écrite – questions le récit et le journal intime. Thanks to the Carrick-on-Shannon branch for coming up with the idea.

ATS, the Association of Spanish Teachers in Ireland, is organising the first languages TeachMeet in Dublin at the Hilton hotel on Oct 10th 2014. If you have a teaching idea that would work well in a language classroom or if you would like to come along without presenting, tickets are available here.

On August 28th, the Department of Education launched a consultation paper for the teaching and learning of modern languages in Ireland, called Modern Languages in irish Education.
This paper is available here with all the details.
The FTA will be collecting views of its members to send a reply from the FTA to Minister.
The deadline for submission is the end of October 2014.
